Spread across two Tauranga CBD locations at Tauranga’s very own Toi Tauranga POP UP, and Kūwao Space:

Te Kahu o Toi Kiri explores the dialogue between the exercise of skin marking and a range of cultural art practices; customary and contemporary, Te Kahu o Toi Kiri  - the ‘cloak’ of indigenous body marking traditions. 

Alongside Te Kahu o Toi Kiri exhibition, our artists are presenting three days of workshops, forum and discussions including:

  • Peata Larkin and Alexis Neal talking to Julie Paama-Pengelly about their exhibition Whaka-aho
  • Dion Kaszas presenting on Nlaka’pamux Blackwork traditions (Canada)
  • Artist panel discussions with Mā’ohi from Tahiti Islands
  • and more to be announced soon ...

The exhibition opens 5.00pm Thursday 28 September and will be open daily until 5.00pm Wednesday 4 October.
